Meant To Be.

There’s a reason why the past is the past,
If those relationships were meant to last…

They would,
They could

When something is meant to happen,
It will
When people leave your life,
Let them
Because if they really loved you, they’ll return
And apologize for the lesson it caused them to learn

But those who don’t come back,
They deserve nothing more than the remembrance of everything they lacked

Hold on to the memories,
But don’t dwell
Remember them as just the “old friend” story to tell

Certain people are meant as a temporary fill, to mold you into who you are
The time they walk with you, it’s not meant to be too far

So let them move on with the life they choose to live
And forget everything of yours you decided to give

It’s time to clear the pain you feel
And let yourself heal

Somebody That I Used To Know.

Do you ever just see someone…

And you suddenly feel a coldness against your heart:

a gun

Because this person, whether or not they know it, represent someone you once knew

And in that moment, all of the memories, they rush back to you

The guilt,

The hurt,

The laughs,

The love,

They wrap around your heart,

like a tight-fitted, suffocating glove.

Remembering everything like it was yesterday,

A confession–this is hard for me to say

Since the day you walked out of my life,

I’ve felt something stabbing into my heart:

a knife

Didn’t the promises we made

Mean anything to you?

Didn’t you consider I never actually wanted our friendship

To be through?

People change; and sometimes they just leave,

taking something of yours with them,

really they’re just thieves

But it’s done and over now,

That hurt is something I’ll no longer allow.

It’s time for me to let go,

At least I’m lucky enough to say…

“Now you’re just somebody that I used to know.”

Only Human.

Really, it’s simple, to get caught up in the world and forgetĀ who you are.

Simple to go with the flow, stare out your window, and look at life from afar.

Sometimes that black hole, it sucks you in and the way out,

collapses on you,

the elevator is broken,

the stairway, it’s gone.

Your loved ones, they’ve moved on.

Your enemies, are fighting strong.

There’s no way out–you’re trapped.

You need someone,

but everyone left, because you can’t lean on them,

you can’t confide in them,

you can’t talk to anyone but yourself.

And they can’t handle that,

they say “really, it’s not good for your health.”

But you can’t pull yourself to spill your guts,

to give your heart to them, so they can

maybe

fix it.

But one man cannot rest the world on his shoulders,

one man cannot put up with the complications of every day,

every week,

every month.

However long, you hold this in,

it cannot all be handled by you.

As much as

you

want

to.

You’re only human.

So take advantage of the people around you.

Love dangerously,

Jump fearlessly,

But most of all,

StandĀ tall

and

Trust in others–because we’re not in this alone,

life is a fight for us all.
